Dr. Amin Nozari (DVM, PhD, DABVT) - Founding Partner
Dr. Amin Nozari (DVM, PhD, DABVT)
Dr. Amin Nozari is the Co-founder and Medical Director of Dr. Vetamin Specialty & Emergency Veterinary Hospital in the Ottawa–Gatineau region. A Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Toxicology (DABVT), he is among only a handful of board-certified veterinary toxicologists in Canada. His career combines specialty clinical practice, scientific research, and hospital leadership, driven by a vision of delivering innovative, collaborative, and compassionate veterinary care.
After earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran, Dr. Nozari completed a PhD in Biology with a concentration in Molecular Toxicology at the University of Ottawa. His doctoral research investigated how brief exposure to low levels of environmental toxins during early development can produce lasting effects on the brain and how some of these changes may be passed on to future generations. He subsequently pursued extensive postgraduate clinical training in emergency and critical care, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, advanced ultrasonography and echocardiography, endoscopy, minimally invasive procedures, and soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.
Since obtaining his Ontario veterinary licence in 2020, Dr. Nozari has devoted his career to emergency and referral medicine, managing a broad spectrum of complex medical and surgical cases. His clinical interests include veterinary toxicology, emergency and critical care, advanced diagnostic imaging, innovative medical therapies, and complex surgical procedures. He is also a board-eligible candidate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (Canine and Feline Medicine) and is expected to complete that certification by the end of 2026.
Under Dr. Nozari’s leadership, Dr. Vetamin has grown from a small mobile veterinary practice into a collaborative specialty and emergency referral hospital offering advanced diagnostic imaging, endoscopy, transfusion medicine, minimally invasive procedures, and multidisciplinary specialty services. His vision has always been to build a collaborative referral centre that provides rapid access to advanced diagnostics, specialty expertise, and emergency care while strengthening partnerships with referring veterinarians. Today, Dr. Vetamin serves pets and their families throughout the Ottawa–Gatineau region by delivering comprehensive, team-based veterinary medicine.
Dr. Nozari and his team are working tirelessly to establish one of Canada’s few dedicated veterinary toxicology referral services. Their vision is to create a collaborative centre of excellence that provides referring veterinarians with timely access to specialist consultation, advanced diagnostics, and evidence-based treatment for companion animal poisoning cases, while ensuring pets and their families receive the highest standard of care.
Dr. Nozari’s professional mission is to advance veterinary medicine through clinical excellence, scientific innovation, and trusted partnerships with referring veterinarians, ensuring that every patient, every family, and every referring veterinarian has access to exceptional specialty and emergency care when it matters most.
